The Diamond Museum Amsterdam is located in a monumental 19th century building right in the heart of the city! Visit this remarkable museum that introduces you to the history of the diamond. The exhibition shows the various stages of diamond cutting, before it ends up in the ring on your finger. Be prepared to be dazzled!

Become a diamond expert, as the exhibition takes you on a journey from the origin of the rough stone to the sparkling gem. Learn more about the history, see how diamonds are geologically formed and where you can find these precious gems. How do the four factors, carat, colour, clarity and cut (4 C’s) determine the appearance and sparkle of a polished diamond? Discover the entire process in a fun and interactive way.

At the Diamond Museum Amsterdam you can admire an extensive collection of diamonds and artifacts. The tour shows how diamonds have increasingly been associated with wealth and power throughout the years. Replicas of some of the most famous diamonds, as well as Royal crowns from around the world are on display. Which one suits you best? Find out with the ‘Crown Yourself app’!

A visit to the Diamond Museum Amsterdam is not complete without seeing the impressive collection of artifacts. Is it allowed to take photo's or film in the museum?
Yes, it is, however without flash.
Is the museum accessible for wheelchairs?
The museum is located in a monumental building. It is unfortunately not possible to enter the museum by wheelchair. However, they do have a small elevator that can only be used together with one of the staff members. Please ask assistance to make use of an elevator

If you have difficulties walking, please let the museum know in advance so they can arrange assistance
Is an audio tour available?
There is no audio tour. However, several collections have audio devices. For these collection, audio is available in Dutch and English.
What are the opening hours of the museum shop?
The opening hours of the museum shop are the same as the museum. The shop is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
