Europe’s only Diamond Museum is located in a monumental building right in the heart of Amsterdam! The Diamond Museum introduces you to the history of the diamond; the gemstone with a never-ending sparkle. The exhibition shows the various stages of diamond cutting before it ends up in the ring on your finger. Be prepared to be dazzled!

The Diamond Museum in Amsterdam, located next to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, offers an extensive collection of diamonds and artifacts. The exhibition provides an insight on how diamonds are geologically formed and it shows how diamonds have increasingly been associated with wealth and power throughout the years.

The collection has a wonderful display of historical crowns and replicas of famous diamonds. Discover the crowns of Royals around the world. Which one suits you best? Find out with the ‘Crown Yourself app’!

The Diamond Museum offers an impressive collection of artifacts. Admire the glass-diamond ‘Katana’, the smallest diamond ever polished and gaze at the ‘Ape Skull’, featuring 17,000 brilliant cut diamonds.

Is it allowed to take photo's or film in the museum?
Yes, it is, however without flash.
Is the museum accessible for wheelchairs?
The museum is located in a monumental building. It is unfortunately not possible to enter the museum by wheelchair. However, they do have a small elevator that can only be used together with one of the staff members.
Is there an audio tour available? And in what languages?
There is no audio tour. However, several collections have audio devices. For these collection, audio is available in Dutch and English.
What are the opening hours of the museum shop?
The opening hours of the museum shop are the same as the museum. The shop is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
